If you are feeding your dog a commercial dog food , remember first of all not dog
food is 100% complete. I do something very controversial . I change dog food brands very regularly. I have always fed my mastiffs
a premium dog food and every time a new Premium food was introduced to the market I switched food. what I noticed was that
when I switched food or the next few months my dogs coats improved and they looked great. after a few more months they lost
that great looking condition and looked like normal dogs. I would then switch pet foods again to a new premium feed and would
watch again a wonderful improvement in coat condition, that soon again faded.
What I finally came to realize was that one dog food may be lacking in a vitamin fatty acid or mineral so over a long
period the deficiency would show up. So when you switched pet foods the new dog food having a different feed source and ingredient
list may have more of the nutrient that was missing in the last food so of course you would see an immediate improvement in
your dog but of course again over several months the nutrients lacking in the new pet food would start to show up in my dogs.
Have you seen this happen to your dogs?
What would be a good supplement for your dog?
Omega fatty acids
I personally found that the pregnant bitches and bitches in whelp have larger litters and healthier
pups by adding omega fatty acids 3 and 6 to their diet. A good fish based oil can greatly help the
breeding bitch and the stud dog.
TRACE MINERALS
I also give my dogs liquid trace minerals , I do not give this daily, because the body can store most
minerals. I give a dose of liquid trace minerals about once or twice a week.
VITAMINS
I all so give a dog vitamins twice a week, you never want to over do anything . With many
vitamins if the dog is getting to much the body passed it out in the urine but some vitamins will build up in the body. By
giving vitamins twice a week you are assuring they are getting what they need and not over doing it.
DIGESTIVE ENZIMES
The best source of digestive enzymes for your dog is threw feeding raw tripe. If there is a slaughter house near your
home you can quite often get it for free. Tripe is the cow atomic. You want to get it uncleaned so it still have the cows
digestive juices coating it . Beware it is very stinky. If you can not get raw tripe you can get digestive enzymes in the
health store.
One of the most notable things I have noticed is when I can get raw tripe the boys pop up with muscles like a body builder
. It appears the digestive enzymes in tripe help the boys utilize the protein in the tripe. So if you want your male dogs
to look like body builders tripe is the supplement food to feed them.
